Real City was proud to host week one of a six week free communication workshop on May 9, 2018. A joint effort between Real City and Brampton Talks Toastmasters.
Members from Brampton Talks Toastmasters gave their time to help 10 professionals that want to improve their speaking skills. Particapants told stories of being scared in groups, giving presentations, and wanting to enhance this very important skill. Toastmasters Advisor Dennis Bartel, long time Toastmaster and Real City Marketing Director “Like any other skill good speaking skills can be learned, speechcraft is a supportive way to gain confidence and learn helpful techniques”
The first week introduced how to choose a speech topic and how to give feedback in a positive and effective way. The participants will give three speeches in 6 weeks along with introduce speaker, give feedback and take on other roles in the meeting. Each participant works with a Toastmasters advisor, has a workbook, and other resources to improve their speaking skills.
This free workshop is sponsored by Real City Realty to help the community and support Toastmasters.
It is imporatant to have a good mindset. One way is to tell yourself personal, positive, and present tense statements called affirmations.
